Has someone ever told you they were struggling, and instead of feeling sorry for them, you felt better?
That’s how I felt the other day when a friend shared how she was struggling with fear. It helped me to know I’m not the only one who struggles, but then I felt bad for feeling good about her struggle.
That’s how I feel sometimes when I read my Bible. Like the story of Gideon, he was a man God used to conquer a huge army. All throughout Gideon’s story you can see how hard it was for him to overcome his doubts and fears. I loved reading that, because overcoming my fears has been such an ongoing process too.
What I really love about this story is how very patient God was with Gideon over the time it took for him to trust God completely. Gideon’s faith was inconsistent but God’s patience was absolutely constant. For more Biblical insights into everyday life, click on Renee’s blog at Proverbs31.org.
