Does it ever feel like picking on each other is your kids’ favorite pastime? Hi, I’m Renee Swope for Proverbs 31 Ministries.
The other day my friend Tracie and I were talking about how our kid’s days can turn into one fight after another. After a day filled with irritating sibling rivalry, Tracie told me she pulled her daughter aside and explained to her that her brother is like a flower, and if she’d water him with love all day, instead of aggravating him, he’d flourish and his love for his sister would grow.
Well, it got me thinking about my kids being like flowers. And realizing that I need to water them with love everyday, so that they can flourish. My words are like seeds and they take root in their hearts and grow in their actions and attitudes. It motivated me to use encouragement instead of criticism, to shape the hearts and decisions of my children.
