I used to hesitate when people would ask how they could pray for me.
I remember one Sunday, a friend from church asked how I was and how she could pray for me. I hesitated for a second and then spilled my guts. I told her I was having a really hard time. Our daughter had just been diagnosed with Apraxia, a severe speech disorder, and it could be years before she would be able to talk. I started crying right there in our church lobby and wondered if she regretted asking.
You know what? I don’t want to pretend things are ok when they’re not. We need to know life is hard for others, not just us. That way, we can pray for each other and stop believing we’re alone in our struggles. The truth is, we all have hard stuff and we need each other.
